Many of our visitors have expressed concern about protecting themselves from scams. Looking at the large number of scam sites on the Internet, it's easy to understand these concerns.

To help you to avoid scams and to know better what you might be getting into, we are doing "background checks" on all paid survey membership sites listed here. Then we report to you here what we found, including any negative information about sites we review.

Let us start out by making it clear that none of the sites on our top 20 list is a scam site. If they were, they would not be on our list!

However, this is not usually a "black or white" sort of thing. There are matters of opinion involved. What one person sees as a, "Not a very good site", to another looks like "A terrible site, a scam". Sometimes one person has a bad experience, while others may be pleased with the same site.

To deal with the "shades of grey" involved, for each site reviewed here, we report to you:

1. Historical information about refund rates

[The people in the best position to spot a scam site are its clients. Site clients express their opinions through the site's refund rates. Good sites will have low refund rates. High refund rates indicate problems and unhappy clients. So refund rates are a valid indicator of what the site's present and past clients think of it.]

2. Any negative comments or reports available on Internet "watchdog" sites

3. Our overall interpretation of the data presented.

This information is presented for each of the sites below. We give you both our summary of our findings and the URLs of the sites from which we got the info. This way you can visit them and see exactly what they say, for yourself, if you wish.
